Spider-Man No Way Home is Out: Here’s a Throwback to Zendaya as the Perfect Villian

The highly anticipated superhero multiverse film has finally landed and our brains have categorically exploded. In order to ground ourselves and come to grips with reality, we’re turning to this sublime Z moment that’s still on our mind.

We’re talking about Zendaya in archival Roberto Cavalli FW2000. Known as the “spine dress” and donned and dusted by Z during this year’s Ballon d’Or, it landmarked a major moment towards Marvel’s latest release. Carefully constructed to reflect a spinal cord in gold detailing, contrasted with the simplicity of a tailored black bodice, this dress couldn’t have made a better comeback.

Alluding to the mighty Spider-Man villain Dr Otto Octavius himself, the gown is an exquisite rendering of the spine-like tendrils of Peter Parker’s nemesis - but fashionably done, of course. Curated by the one and only Law Roach, it’s only expected that this “image architect” pulls off one of the most intriguing ties between vintage Cavalli and a Spidey super-villain. It’s a supernatural match made in heaven.
